Weight bearing after knee arthroscopy

weight bearing knee arthroscopy

When can I weight bear following the Knee arthroscopy?

Generally, patients can weight bear once the anaesthetic has worn off.

There are usually no specific restrictions in weight bearing unless a meniscal or ligament repair has been performed.

If an ACL reconstruction is performed without meniscal repair, the patient is generally allowed to weight bear as tolerated early.

The only exception is meniscus repair where the meniscus has been repaired using anchors. In those cases, the patient generally cannot weight bear for a period of six weeks. Following that, there will be a further period of between two and four weeks where the patient is partially weight bearing using one crutch (in the other hand).
